Africa Journey
Background
The vision in OM Africa is to prepare and send 5000 new workers, called by God, to and from Africa by 2025 and to transformation among 350 of the least reached community groups in Africa.
Africa is becoming a formidable missionary-sending region. Strategic leadership development is essential for the training, discipleship and life skills needed to equip indigenous African missionaries by 2025.
The Africa Area has developed a leadership development strategy to cover three different tiers of leadership which will help equip leaders in character, skill and strategic initiative.
Africa Lead targets leaders in a senior organisational role. Africa Journey aims to equip leaders in a middle leadership role. Africa Flight looks to develop emerging leaders who are leading a team.
Project Overview
The programme starts with a five-day intensive training course to introduce the year-long process. The participants follow a programme of guided reading with the opportunity to apply what they read and reflect on what they learn. Each one will meet monthly with a mentor to process their learning experience. A second training event follows later in the year with a chance for all participants to meet again.
Since October 2014, 14 participants have completed the Africa Journey process and have come from Lake Tanganyika, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
